Le début de l’été va être placé sous le signe d’un grand hommage à James Brown.
On commence le 27 juin 2008 dans le cadre du festival “Jazz à Vienne” avec Fred Wesley et Pee Wee Ellis. Maceo ne semble pas être de la partie… dommage, mais ce concert s’annonce tout de même très bien, et qui plus est dans un cadre superbe : le théâtre antique de Vienne. Je ne pourrai malheureusement pas y aller…
Autre évènement un peu plus tard, à Paris cette fois, et la j’y serai : le 16 juillet 2008 au Bataclan avec Bootsy Collins ! L’occasion de voir en live un des plus grands bassiste au monde, celui qui aurra accompagné James Brown durant sa période la plus funky dans les années 70.
Bootsy organise une tournée “Tribute to James Brown” avec de nombreux invités prestigieux : des membres des JB’s, Vicky Anderson et des musiciens du groupe de Bobby Bird, la fille du Godfather et même sur certaines dates Afrika Bambaata ou Fred Wesley (sera t’il à Paris… mystère).

Bootzilla Productions Presents: A Tribute to the Godfather of Soul Bootsy Collins joined the James Brown band at a ripe old age of 17. The Godfather had no mercy and quickly showed him how to play on the One, Then from there he let Bootsy do his thang, thats right, as long as it was James Brown Tight he could play all night.
Now Bootsy an Original JBs Rhythm section: Catfish Collins, Guitar, Jabo (on the One Starks) and Clyde (the funky drummer) Stubblefield, on Drums, with Johnny (the Afrikan Groove-ulator) Griggs, and Bobby Byrds son Bart Anderson Byrd, will sit in for Bobby Byrd on Organ.
Tony Wilson, who Mr. Brown himself, acknowledged him as the Young James Brown will sing, will prance and dance while checking out The Hot Pants!
Bobby Byrd Band featuring: Mrs. Vicky Anderson Byrd, who was one of the first Kings Queens to go solo as a James Brown Productions Artist, along with her sons and daughters will remind you why Bobby Byrd said ,I know you got Soul, if you didnt you wouldnt be in Here!
Escapism Band, put together by Brian Hardgroove the Bass player for Public Enemy, will make it Funky, along with a lot of other JB Classics.
Now Venisha Brown the daughter of James Brown, who not only looks exactly like him, she also dances just like him, shes got the swerves and shes got the curves and she knows that Papa Didnt Take No Mess,(and Venisha doesnt either, shes got( Soul Power)
FreekBass, with the quake of his Mutronic on slaught of his own Bootsy style Bass. He will definitely finger funk you up, and put the spirit of Boot-a-delic, right in yo face.
ZionPlanet10, is our youngest at 14 years old, but has got the talent and wisdom of a young Stevie-No-Wonder hes on the JB-Tribute tour, this young brothas cold!
ICandi, will blow your mind with there young vocalist Ms Candice, who you will fall in love with her as an artist, a person, and a real classy women no doubt. Shes got her Brothers that got the Rap and will make sure you get up Offa that Thang
